A leading and well-established Indian food & beverage brand with a multi-decade legacy and strong national presence is entering an accelerated growth phase within its Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) business.
The QSR division is poised for significant domestic scale-up and international expansion, including entry into global markets. As the business transitions into a professionally governed, growth-focused structure, it seeks a strategic and execution-driven CFO to partner closely with the Business Head and Board in driving financial excellence and long-term value creation.
Role Overview
The CFO – QSR Division will lead the overall financial strategy, governance, capital planning, and performance management of a fast-growing QSR business.
This role will act as a strategic thought partner to the Business Head and leadership team, ensuring disciplined financial management while enabling aggressive expansion across India and overseas markets.
The CFO will oversee finance operations, capital allocation, margin enhancement, risk management, and strategic initiatives including franchise models, joint ventures, and international market entry.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
- Define and drive long-term financial strategy aligned with domestic scale-up and international expansion.
- Lead capital allocation decisions including new store rollouts, format expansion, and overseas market entry.
- Evaluate franchise, JV, and partnership models from a financial and governance lens.
- Support potential fundraise, debt structuring, or strategic investor engagement if required.
Business Partnership & Performance Management
- Act as financial advisor to the Business Head and Board on strategic decisions.
- Drive annual operating plans, budgeting, and rolling forecasts across outlets and regions.
- Establish strong unit economics frameworks (store-level EBITDA, payback periods, ROI).
- Monitor KPIs including same-store sales growth, gross margins, working capital, and cash flow.
Financial Operations & Governance
- Lead accounting, FP&A, treasury, taxation, audit, compliance, and MIS functions.
- Ensure timely closure of books and accurate reporting to leadership.
- Establish robust financial controls across inventory, procurement, outlet cash management, and supply chain.
- Strengthen governance and internal audit systems to support scale and global operations.
Cost & Margin Optimization
- Drive structured margin improvement initiatives across product mix, procurement, and operations.
- Improve cost visibility at outlet and SKU level.
- Partner with procurement and operations teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.
Expansion & International Readiness
- Lead financial planning for international expansion including market entry strategy.
- Manage FX exposure, overseas compliance, and cross-border structuring.
- Support evaluation of acquisitions, alliances, or new business formats.
Team Leadership
- Build and scale a high-performance finance organization.
- Institutionalize systems, processes, and digital finance tools.
- Mentor finance leaders and instill strong financial discipline across business teams.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Proven CFO / Senior Finance Leader with 15–20 years of experience in QSR, retail, hospitality, or consumer businesses.
- Strong exposure to multi-unit retail operations and franchise models.
- Deep expertise in financial strategy, capital planning, governance, and risk management.
- Demonstrated experience in scaling businesses and driving profitability.
- Strong executive presence with Board-level stakeholder management capability.
- Experience in managing expansion, transformation, or structured growth environments.
- Chartered Accountant preferred; MBA Finance with strong controllership foundation considered.
